Maxime Dufour-LaPointe

You could argue that it was thanks to Maxime Dufour-Lapointe that Canada now has the powerhouse trio known as 3SDL on the Canadian Mogul Team. Maxime, being the eldest, was the first to get things started on the slopes at the age of 12, after seeing a friend freestyle ski. Soon after, sisters Chloé and Justine would join in on the fun.

It wasn’t long before all three girls would draw attention of the junior provincial team, then the national team, and therefore including the whole family in freestyle skiing on a journey they never expected!

It was when Maxime saw Chloé compete in Vancouver in 2010, and got to experience what the Olympics were all about as a spectator, that she really set her mind on becoming an Olympian herself as well. All three girls would eventually make history being  on the 2014 Sochi Olympic Team. Maxime would finish in 12th, and Justine (gold) and Chloé (silver) making it onto the podium.

In 2016, while competing at the FIS Freestyle Ski World Cup in Val Saint-Côme, the trio of sisters swept the podium – Justine in first, Chloé in second, and Maxime in third – creating another historic moment never before seen in the sport with three siblings all standing on the podium together.

The girls believe in the strength of teamwork. They have a very strong and a deep  bond between them, but they do have very different personalities. Maxime loves science, riding horses, birds, surfing, and to draw. Justine says Maxime is the brain of the trio because one of her strengths is to be able to be rational and very understanding. Maxime is planning to pursue her studies in medicine after her athletic career because she is passionate about the human body, and giving care to others. Maxime is a very dedicated, hard working and loves to push herself to see how good she can be because her motto is «Magic happens outside of your comfort zone».

Being three of the best freestyle skiers in the world, the sisters are just as much passionate about fashion as they are about skiing. They love designing their own helmets every year, they are cosmetics ambassadors, and are now working towards building their own fashion brand and clothing line.

Career Highlights:
  • 4th at the 2015 World Championships (moguls)
  • 4th at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games
  • 4th at the overall FIS World Cup ranking in 2013-2014
