Calabogie located about 1hr West of Ottawa has seen a roller coster of winter temperatures since Christmas. Ranging from -35 to 11 degrees during the building of the course created multiple obstacles for the course crews and event organizers. During the week of the event it started with regular temps allowing for a strong crew to build an impressive course considering what opportunities mother nature delivered. Athletes all arrived and have been training as best they can. Friday started out with 14mm of rain and at 12pm the winds picked up and by 1pm the temperature was -20 with the wind chill. By the end of the day the athletes toughed it out and got a full session of training.
The weekend holds cold temps but it is steady. Event organizers and host club have done a tremendous effort to prepare the course for this Canada Cup and everyone is looking forward to seeing Canada’s top skiers in this idyllic community ski hill. Congratulations to the hard working locals who have created a gem.
