Kris Atkinson

A veteran of the Canadian Halfpipe Team since 2012, Kris Atkinson has been on skis for the majority of his life. To fund and pursue his passion, Kris has been working as a civil engineering technician and a general labourer between training camps in Calgary and the oil sands of Northern Alberta.

While watching TV at the age of 10, he saw a skier do a back flip off of a jump. That moment drew him into the sport and made him want to learn how to learn how to do the trick. Four years later, Kris nailed the trick and has been involved in freestyle skiing ever since.

Since joining the national team, Kris has been a regular on the NorAM, World Cup, and AFP tours, including making appearances at FIS World Championship and X Games events.

Outside of freesking, Kris is an avid outdoorsman and world traveller. He spends his time in the offseason adventuring in nature. His many hobbies include surfing, rock climbing, caving, fishing, camping, and gardening.
