Mélissa Corbo

After a successful career in artistic gymnastics with the Gymnix Club of Montreal, where she won two medals at the Canada Games in Whitehorse in 2007, and three medals at the Canadian Gymnastics Championships during the same year, Mélissa discovered a new passion: aerials skiing.

During her second year of competition as a member of Team Quebec, Mélissa won the 2012-2013 NorAm Cup Championships and was selected on the Canadian Team in June 2013. She has since maintained her excellent progress showing great consistency.

Mélissa began the 2013-2014 season by winning gold at the 9th Mondial Acrobatx in Lac Beauport (Quebec), ahead of Russian Asoli Slivet, who was ranked fourth at the Vancouver Olympic Games, and Australian Danielle Scott, third at the 2013 World Championships.

Mélissa continued her upward progress during the 2013-2014 NorAm season, being on the podium in all six competitions in which she took part, finishing in second overall in the standings.

During the 2014-2015 season, Mélissa participated in her first World Cup competitions. In her first event in Beijing, China, she has managed to carve out a place in the final (first twelve), finishing 10th. Having finished 14th in her second competition in Park City, Utah, Mélissa Corbo surprised Canadian aerial fans with a bronze medal performance in Lake Placid, New York.

Not only was this Mélissa’s first career World Cup podium finish, it was also the first time a Canadian woman had reached the podium in aerials since 2008. This impressive feat earned Mélissa the Most Outstanding Aerial Performance Award for the best individual performance by a Canadian aerial skier in the 2014-2015 season presented to her by Freestyle Canada.

  • 3rd at the 2015 FIS World Cup in Lake Placid
  • 2013 FIS NorAm Cup champion
