The Repentigny, Québec, native started skiing with his parents at Val Saint-Côme when he was a year and a half old. When he was nine years old, Gabriel Dufresne saw future national team members Marc-Antoine Gagnon and Pascal-Olivier Gagné skiing with the Val Saint-Côme mogul club, and their talent inspired him to join the team the following year.
Dufresne was amazed by the type of flips they were doing while skiing and wanted to be like them. He was able to join Gagnon and Gagné on the team for a year before they moved up to the provincial team and eventually the national team where Dufresne would re-join them as a teammate in 2015.
Dufresne found out he’d be called up to Canadian team while in Las Vegas celebrating his grandparent’s wedding anniversary with his family. Naturally, the moment was even more special having everyone around.
In 2016, Dufresne career came full circle when he was able to compete in his first ever FIS World Cup on his home mountain of Val Saint-Côme. He also finished the 2015-16 season by grabbing a dual moguls bronze medal at the Canadian Mogul Championships.
