My first time on skis was when I was just a year old, at the Tremblant World Cup in 2002, with my dad Rick Schwinghammer. My dad competed on the World Cup tour for moguls, aerials, and ballet skiing a long time ago, now he works with FIS, sometimes he would bring me along to World Cups, this is what made me fall in love with the thrill of mogul skiing. Traveling with my dad, seeing all my idols compete, even sneaking in a few runs in on the course before training started, made me realize that someday I wanted to be competing on those courses.
The one moment that really inspired me to get into freestyle skiing was at the 2010 winter Olympics in Vancouver. My dad was working there, and my family and I went to watch, seeing Jennifer Heil (my idol) and Alex Bilodeau compete and succeed, made me believe that mogul skiing was definitely going to be a part of my future. From there, during the Games I skied with the Whistler Blackcomb Freestyle Club, giving me the drive to keep pursuing my dream.
When i’m not skiing i’m back home in the prairies, wake boarding, wake surfing and finishing up high school.
I enjoy painting and drawing, I always have a sketch book with me, almost everywhere I go!
