Robbie Andison can’t ever remember life without skiing having first been put on skis at the age of two. How he got into freestyle skiing though was due to the friendship he had with another one of Canada’s up and coming athletes.
Robbie has been friends with rising slopestyle star, Evan McEachran, since childhood and when Evan invited Robbie to go to a water ramp camp in Lake Placid at the age of 10, Robbie simply couldn't say no and was immediately hooked.
The Oakville, ON, native competed in aerials before focusing on moguls and rising to the top of Canada’s prospects list. But Robbie also has an athletic background in another sport.
A former member of the Burloak Canoe Club, Robbie trained next to Olympians and national team members such as his brother Jamie, a member of the national team for eight years who competed at the World Championships. Andison was no slouch himself having won several national championship medals.
Now Robbie only paddles recreationally, especially since being named to the mogul national team in 2015. Most recently, Robbie has been on a remarkable journey to recover from a serious knee injury sustained in June of 2015 during a trampoline accident.
A doctor told Robbie he’d never ski again, but as shown through the documentary “Robbie’s Rebound”, Robbie is not only back on skis but getting ready to compete again.
