Freestyle Canada Partners with Ferreol Skis to Develop Next-Generation Mogul Ski

Published April 23, 2026

Freestyle Canada is pleased to announce a new partnership with Ferreol Skis to design and develop a next-generation mogul ski tailored specifically to the demands of Canadian high-performance athletes.

This collaboration, made possible in part through the valued support of Own the Podium and its Innovations for Gold program, brings together Freestyle Canada’s athlete-driven performance expertise with Ferreol’s innovative ski design and manufacturing capabilities. The goal is clear: to create a competition-ready mogul ski that meets the technical progression of the sport and supports Canadian athletes on the world stage.

Mogul skis remain a highly specialized product, with only a limited number of manufacturers worldwide producing discipline-specific equipment. Access to these skis can be challenging, particularly for developing athletes in Canada. Through this partnership, Freestyle Canada and Ferreol aim not only to support national team athletes but also to improve accessibility and contribute to the growth of mogul skiing across the country.

An intensive on-snow testing camp held April 1–2, 2026, at Mont-Sainte-Anne marked a key milestone in the development process. Eight top-level Canadian mogul skiers, including national team athletes, coaches, and experienced high-performance alumni, evaluated a range of prototype skis through a structured, blind testing format.

Athletes evaluated key performance characteristics such as stability, responsiveness, absorption, and confidence at speed. Feedback was consistent and highly encouraging, with several prototype configurations emerging as strong performers across a diverse group of skiers.

“This project is about building something that truly reflects how our athletes ski and what they need to succeed,” said Olympian and Canadian team mogul coach Phil Marquis, who also participated in the on-snow testing. “The level of feedback and engagement from the group was exceptional, and it’s clear we are very close to a final product. The excitement from both the skiers and the engineering team at Ferreol was palpable, and the environment struck a unique balance, serious but fun, reflecting both the professionalism and energy of the camp.”

The prototypes demonstrated a high level of performance, particularly for elite athletes, offering quick edge-to-edge response and a dynamic feel suited to modern mogul skiing. Development will continue with additional on-snow testing in varied conditions, including upcoming sessions in Whistler. This next phase will focus on refining final design elements and validating performance in high-performance training environments.

“Through this partnership with Freestyle Canada, Ferreol aims not only to support elite athletes with world-class equipment, but also to develop a more accessible commercial version of the mogul ski,” said Jonathan Audet, co-founder and CEO of Ferreol. “By doing so, we hope to help equip and inspire the next generation of Canadian athletes across mogul clubs nationwide.”

The collaboration between Freestyle Canada and Ferreol represents a significant step forward in athlete-driven equipment development and reinforces a shared commitment to innovation, performance, and excellence in Canadian mogul skiing.
