Change the landscape, deepen our legacy
Freestyle Canada’s Women in Freestyle Program is about changing the messaging about young girls and women participating in our freestyle environments. We provide inclusive and positive environments by educating our leaders, offering meaningful and relevant learning experiences aligned with the latest research, and providing opportunities that enhance the programs within our communities.
By increasing the number of women leaders in the communities, we will be better equipped to recruit and retain other young women who will pursue their dreams of becoming champions in their discipline, head coaches of performance teams, leaders of their officials' programs, or possibly leading their associations. When we see this, we can strive to be it.
We want to change the way our community sees the athletes competing in sport, support women to take on coaching and officiating as a profession, and for girls to take on a higher level of competitions to represent Canada on the world stage.
Currently, with the support of Sport Canada, Canadian Women in Sport and British Columbia’s Via Sport we have been able increase the number of women in mentor and leader roles by 18% just in the past 2 years with 14 new mentors across 6 provinces and in addition, 12 coaches have obtained a higher level of education and of whom are currently all working within their local programs.
Take a journey through our different resources to see what we are offering to support girls and women in the Freestyle programs.
